I would consider Mangiapane's 2014/15 season more comparable to Poirier's 2013/14 season, which means that his 2013/14 season is more closely comparable to Poirier's 2012/13 season in which he under-scored Poirier.

I would say their Juniour numbers are fairly close overall, but Poirier's excellent rookie professional season trumps all that Mangiapane has accomplished to this point.
I don't agree with this analysis in this case. I understand that Mangiapane is older vs his draft class than Poirier and that Poirier therefor entered junior at a younger age. I also understand that additional age allows for added growth, weight, etc. But Poirier is by far the bigger of the two. Mangiapane has played consistently as a smaller, lighter player compared to his peers. Also, he was a late bloomer, so his skills ripened later. To me it is totally fair to match their first three Junior seasons up with one another and Mangiapane quite considerably outscores Poirier. Even if you don't do that, the fact remains that Mangiapane topped 100 points twice in Junior and Poirier never did it.

Furthermore, I don't think Poirier's career as a pro is that exceptional. He had a decent rookie season that showed promise, but followed that up with a very underwhelming season. To me, that does not warrant rating him higher than a prospect who is a late bloomer with less physical attributes who put up considerably better numbers in the lower league.

I think it is totally fair to say that Poirier has better physical attributes to succeed in pro and therefor should be ranked higher. I can totally understand someone making that argument. But based on their record, I think Mangiapane is a more exciting prospect, and I don't think that Poirier's one decent AHL season trumps two >100 seasons in Barrie.
