I've said before in this thread that Perez is a great choice, not simply because of the Latino heritage but because he pulls together a lot of the diverse groups that make up the traditional Democrat coalition. He's got a civil rights background and can speak to his investigations into police violence and discrimination. He's got broad union support. He's popular with the Warren wing. He's not going to bring many non-traditional democrats to the party, but he could be a good unifying move. He's got the 'in touch with the common American' quality that Clinton lacks.
