Tkachuk has no Schedule B bonuses, which are for winning big league awards (the Calder doesn't qualify for B bonuses) or finishing top-10 in league scoring for your position. It's very rare for a player on his ELC to earn a B level bonus (Johnny would have received his for finishing top-10 last season).

Typically only the top 4 or 5 picks in any draft class get any or all of the B bonuses on their ELCs. Players who are coming into the NHL as college free agents often get the full bonuses because they have more leverage to ask for them or sign somewhere else.

Tkachuk signed the same ELC as Monahan, which is the maximum salary, signing bonus, and Schedule A bonuses (which are for individual performance measured against the other players on the team). Both were 6th overall picks.

Bennett, as the #4 pick, received some B bonuses on his contract, but not the maximum.

It varies from year-to-year, but typically, only the first and second picks in the draft get full maximum level A & B bonuses. After that, players still usually get the maximum A bonuses, but reduced or no B bonuses.

If you look at last season: McDavid and Eichel both received maximum A & B bonuses; Strome received a reduced number of B bonuses; and Marner only got A level bonuses. In 2014, Ekblad is the only one with maximum bonuses; Reinhart received slightly less; Draisaitl slightly less than Reinhart; and Bennett slightly less than Draisaitl.

In the grand scheme of things, hardly any players actually receive the B level bonuses, so they're all actually going to make the same at the end of the day (depending on how many A bonuses they can earn).
