this discussion scares me. my pointing and laughing finger is ready to go at a moment's notice, as soon as the Oiler fail train fires up and immediately suffers its next derailment. but all this pre-emptive planning feels like the kind of thing that the hockey gods will punish us for sooner or later.
teams can be epic suck for a decade or more with seemingly no end in sight, only for a bunch of circumstances to magically line up in short order and turn things around. it's what happened with Chicago after their years of wandering the desert...now, almost no chance Edmonton gets anywhere near that, but I would hate for this thread to be held up as an example of how carried away we got.
