Anecdotal I know.. But I can't help but think that is the reason.

It likely is. I asked my dentist and they are seeing much more cavities especially in children since the city flip flopped on fluoride.
Back to the topic the fees are indeed getting out of hand. It's getting to the point where my benefits are only covering 2/3 of the bill when at one time they covered 90% at least . I'm submitting the rest through my wife's benefits so while I'm covered I really feel for people that only have one parent with benefits as they are left on the hook for over $100 for simple things like checkups.
