But all that said, what Cormier went through this past week is something that a lot of champions would have walked away from and not taken a fight. Lose lose scenario for a champ. Silva deserves a tonne of credit for stepping up on 2 days notice, but Cormier also deserves a lot of credit for accepting the fight. Instead people were booing him as if he was some how responsible for Jones not being there.
MacGregor got embarassed after taking a fight on short notice
Rockhold got embarassed for doing the same thing
He could have refused and been well within his rights to do so.

Oh I agree with you on that. I think most people wanted to see Jones because they thought that DC would lose. I don't know enough about the economics of the sport, but I wonder how much of his willingness was based on wanting that paycheque, and then also the fact that it was two days notice against a guy who hasn't trained in a few months and a 7.5lb weight advantage based on the weigh-in the day before. That night he was probably 15lbs or more heavier?
It's an on-going issue with these wrestlers. They have amazing technique and skill to take fighters down. But once they get there they can't do much other than throw punches. Really we saw the same thing with Lesnar, only he was able to overwhelm Hunt a lot easier.
