I remember the 2014 world juniors, the first time I really got to see gillies play. Living in Edmonton at the time for school, I told my oiler friends that gillies is going to have a coming out party just like gaudreau and Gibson the year prior. Gillies then went on to have a sub .900 tourney leading the US to an early exit. My oiler friends made sure I knew I was wrong about that one.
On top of that, providence's new starter Nick Ellis posted better numbers than Gillies did in his. junior year. Not to mention, Gillies just lost pretty much a whole year of development.
For those reasons, I can't see him as our number 2 prospect and put Jankowski and Hickey above him for sure.
