This is just flat out incorrect. And not all homeless people beg. And I've never had any person who does beg do anything after I said, "sorry, no". Most actually say "OK thanks anyway" or something to that effect. Of course, if I reacted in a way which suggested I thought they were lesser, maybe they'd respond differently too.
