I’d argue that for the next year, the Flames aren’t really in a “win-now” kind of mode. Wideman’s contract is only for the next year anyways. I think our window to win is within the next couple of years (though I see us being competitive next year). The cap space will open up next year for us anyways, and it'd be nice to get something like a 2nd + B-prospect at the deadline (Russell-esque?) which makes us better in the short and long term.
