Methinks you haven't been around for very long. Do you actually think politicians do anything more than pander to their base. Ahh duh that's what gets them elected. Hey and if the base decides that should change one of those attitudes then guess what -- Presto that is just what they will do.
I mean otherwise when a good piece of legislation came up everybody would be on board but it's not about that -- it's a game to see if you can win.
Dems were into the war there for awhile -- then the body count went up and polls changed and hey presto so did they. Reps will do the same as well.
You must think politicians are ideologues -- they are far from it!!!
