The trouble with that is that a case actually has to go to arbitration. Once that happens, your fate is in the hands of the arbiter – who could easily give your player an award bigger than the cap savings from the buyout.
I don't blame Treliving for wanting to stay far, far away from arbitration. I'm a bit surprised at how much effort he's making to avoid it, but I understand the principle.
