Nashville will be in big trouble if he retires early. They've paid him $56 million over the first four years of the contract, but have only taken $31.43 million in cap hit. That's a $24.57 million difference that they'll have to take on as dead cap space if he retires early. That number can't get smaller, and will be divided by the number of years remaining on the contract when he retires. If he retires with 3 years left, when the value of the contract drops to $1 million per year, Nashville will get hit with $8.19 million in cap hit per season for those 3 years.
