By effectively becoming a third line player who focused only on offense. That's actually exactly the role that Taylor Hall needs to succeed. But as an all around hockey player he's nowhere near as good as Oiler fans think. And this deal shows that because there likely were other deals out there, this was simply the best anyone was offering for him. Apparently racking up points on the worst run of years any franchise in NHL history has had didn't make him worth elite players, shockingly.
