I don't want to take this off topic but it is an opportunity to weigh in.
There is an ugly side of CP that borders (if not crosses directly) into the world of bullying. We've probably all done it. But it is ugly.
I think it is reasonable to ask a few things of both this poster and the group
- The poster should continue to strive for quality over quantity
- The poster shouldn't react to everything, including when people take a shot. Rise above it. The reaction feeds more of it.
- But in equal measures, can the community just leave the guy alone for a bit and give him a chance?
- And collectively let's not jump all over each other so much. Don't like a thread? Don't reply in it. Posting that a thread sucks only keeps it on page 1. The cool thing about a forum, when it is operating properly, is that it basically functions as a democracy. The good stuff rises to the top, and the crud quickly vanishes to page 2 and beyond. When people post to complain about a thread, that behavior is actually thing that undermines the quality of the board more than a crappy thread getting on page 1 for a very brief amount of time.
Ultimately we are all fans here, and the hate spewed around sometimes is stunning. I know I've over-reacted at times, and try to really not anymore, but we are all going to trip up.
But the way this guy is getting dog piled regularly doesn't reflect well on who we are.
