There seems to be a lot of people using the rationale that because racists are anti-immigration, that anyone who doesn't support a fully open immigration policy must be racist. It's no different than people on the far right saying that all muslims are terrorists.
Immigration is a complex issue that has domino effects down almost every socio-economic aspect of governance.
I do find it somewhat ironic that many of the issues the EU is facing are similar to what the Soviet Union faced in regards to people from the poorer regions moving into wealthier areas and the ensuing ethnic tensions.
