Even this election cycle, the alleged cycle of being "anti-establishment", I think I saw there were 209 primaries held so far, and in 205 of them the incumbent candidate won.

People just are easy to prey on emotionally. That's been the GOP calling card for years, and it was the calling card of the Leave side. People are willing to go against their own interest if you can create a sense of fear in them about irrelevant, emotionally based issues. That and the stupidest ####ing trend in recent history, politics by meme'ing. That's scarily and sadly how many get their "facts".

Unemployment is the US basically at the same point it was pre-2008 crash so the jobs thing is pretty much out the window.

i think it's a bit different this time. The fact that republicans lost to Trump could mean one of 2 things.

1. They ride the Trump wave and piggyback back into the House.
2. Trump loses in a landslide and Democrats win 2/3s of the House

Heck if it turns out that Trump is garbage remember that the Republicans lost to that garbage. We will see if Washington is truly broken or not.
