Unless they have a goalie in waiting or a backup who is ready to be ridden as a #1, I don't see why the Avs would do it.

You have some homework to do then.

They have Varly, Berra and Pickard under contract.
Pickard was close to taking the net from Varlamov last season if not for his large contract.
Free'ing Varlys cap space might be one of the wisest things they could do.
That and if you ask Avs fans as good as Varlamov is he can have some stinkers.
