Johnson is the only top pairing guy left and who will play in net for them? Then the hunt is on for them to get a goalie. Do they have a decent defense without Barrie? I honestly don't watch the Avs enough to really know other then what I see on the stat sheet. But trading away your franchise #1 goalie screams of a step backwards for a team like them. The Avs are desperate to take the next step forward.
Unless they have a goalie in waiting or a backup who is ready to be ridden as a #1, I don't see why the Avs would do it.

Avs have 20m in cap space (generalfanger.com) and have McKinnon, Barrie, Pickard and Grigorenko as RFAs to sign. Then have UFAs like Boedker to try and re-sign and still attempt to bolster their D corps. There's a good possibility that COL would like some more cap flexibility and have some faith in Pickard and Berra as they both did pretty well for them last year.
Maybe they focus on moving Duchene, who knows.
