If we can't move up to 3 then personally I think we look at moving down if Dubois & Tkachuk are gone. IMO the three d-man and 3-5 forwards in that range area all pretty close, so gather assets if you can.
McLeod started to jump to me after watching some more of his highlights videos. Really reminded me of Larkin in the videos that I saw. Great speed, awesome work ethic, and just flying past guys.
Guys with his size, speed, work ethic, and hockey sense tend to become good NHLers.
Then I saw other people list comparables like O'Reilly, Kesler, & Horvat.
Maybe he isn't the PPG winger that the Flames need in our top 6, but maybe he becomes our 2nd line shutdown center and Bennett shifts to wing where he can use his elite creativity a little more.
I look at a scenario where Montreal offers up something like 9, 39, & 45 for 6.
Flames could then easily use 35 and a combo of our other 4 2nd rounders to move up and snag a guy like Gauthier.
If the tradedown to 3 isn't an option and the scenario available is 6, 35, 54, 56 in the first two rounds vs. 9, 35, 39, 45, 54, 56 then I know what direction that I am leaning. 5 picks in the 2nd round are huge currency for us to make deals, whether it be for a goalie, an RFA winger (Hayes/Kreider), or to package to move up into the first round (Gauthier)
