Montana had no speed limit for decades and I've never heard anything about it resulting in more accidents. I'd put the enormous amount of the police budget dedicated to traffic into those other crimes you speak of. Those are crimes with some consequences -- sending in a cheque dosen't change people's habits. Take a drive down Deerfoot anyday of the week --Heck just take a drive and you will see how much the radar system is deterring speeding -- NOT one bit.

I remember driving down to Billings, Montana, back in the 80's and recall a stretch of road where they had a cross wherever someone had been killed in an accident. There was one or more crosses in almost every single turn in the road, and it sure left an impression on me.
I'm all for cameras. I think they definately help to reduce the incidence of excessive speeding, even though it's hard to take when you get caught.
