Treliving convinces them that, if they are patient for 2 years, they'll get paid more and the team will be healthier.

This would put us in a bad cap situation when we're actually ready to contend for the cup.
Plus, there's no way they only sign for 4 million at any length. Their performance dictates much more than there no matter how you look at it.
But whether it's Smid in the LTIR, Wideman traded, Raymond bought out, etc. the Flames do have options for now.
