Many, if not majority of voters ignore common sense, logic, reason and vote based on completely irrelevant criteria - leader's appearance, allegiance to a specific party, disappointment with economic situation, disappointment over a specific event/scandal etc. Yes, Prentice was by far the best candidate; but voters were too upset about Redford's Calgary penthouse and private airplane faux-pas. This is, unfortunately, a political reality, which has nothing to do with candidate's merits one way or another.
