Just saw this, and yeah, easy to see why people who aren't into the game's history and lore would not get it.
It suffers from one of the same problems Batman vs Superman did - This movie's entire purpose was to set up a universe, so the number of pieces of lore that had to be introduced left the movie largely feeling disjointed. Solid CGI though.
Disappointed there was no poop quest... but that will have to wait for the World of Warcraft sequel, I guess.

This makes sense to set up the universe but I found the acting, wardrobe, and dialogue to be pretty terrible besides the CG. Llane looks like a peasant, Medivh looks like a homeless hipster, the teeth on the orcs are over the top and a little odd looking and laughable on Garrona.
I compared the acting and believability of Medivh to Christopher Lambert in Mortal Kombat just terrible. He is the god of lightning and doesn't act the part just like Medivh the protector of the land, I can't see it
All that aside its Warcraft and I can't hate it
