Acquisition cost for me is the most important thing.
The Flames don't really need a top tier goalie for now. They need a goalie like the Avalanche did when they acquired Varlamov. The thing that is the twist with the team currently is them having Gillies and McDonald in the wings. If they did not have those two, who are both question marks, then perhaps it would be more important to target a skill goalie. The Flames can get by with adequate goaltending for the time being while they wait and see if the guys in the wings are going to emerge as being legit top goalies in their own right.
Ideally you get a goalie for 2-3 years, and either spend assets then to get a top tier goalie if the prospects do not turn out, or turn it over to the prospect that does.
For me, I wouldn't want to see them using anything more than 54/56 + a middling prospect like a Poirier or Wotherspoon to get anyone, as they can just sign a free agent that will do an adequate job.
