Ward played 103 games the past two seasons had a 2.40 and 2.41 GAA respectively.
I don't think he's amazing but the dollar amount is fine for what he's giving that team. Keep in mind they have one of, maybe even the youngest D cores in the entire NHL, too, so plenty of mistakes are made.
David Marcoux, who's now goalie coach with Carolina, was praising his communication with that young D core.
I don't think Ward is
great or anything, but he can move the puck and play a 1A workload. The term makes sense too, buys them time to develop Nedelkovic who was up there with McDonald and Demko as one of the top goalies of that draft class.
