Other tidbits from the open session:
BT: They think Gillies is safe (excluded from eligible for expansion draft) but rules still not 100% clear.
BB: To win Stanley Cup you need to beat one team with size, another team with speed, the third team with special teams and the fourth team with a hybrid of all three.
BB: Emphasized the bridge deal concept. Foreshadowing?
BT: Made one small slip by saying there were some forwards available at 6 he liked. But then added also defensemen too seconds later? A Nylander tell perhaps.
BT: Definitely will never allow NMC. Will only allow a NTC with a limited number of teams ineligible to trade to. I think it was 9 teams so that there at least 20 the Flames can trade to. Really liked that philosophy.
BT: Hinted we have lots of 2nd round picks. We need a #1 goalie because important position! Stay tuned.
BB: Czech goalie we signed sought after by other teams.
After main session (in person):
Our UFA defensemen become more valuable closer to trade deadlines. Got sense they are more likely to be moved if at all at that point.
Likes Juolevi over Chychrun and Sergachev. Also likes Nylander not concerned with his work ethic, great skill.
Wideman NMC really limits options for trade.
Open to UFA forward if the cap math can work.
Likes Reimer but also will definitely explore all options.
Very friendly and not pretentious at all.
