Boudreau wasn't a fit for one reason I think. He's retiring after two seasons in Minnie. Perhaps the big thing for Treliving and the Flames is they want a coach who wants a long term gig and by the time Boudreau is ready to retire is when the Treliving feels the Flames will be ready to push for a cup. Leaving the team twisting in the wind at the wrong time in the process. At least that's how it shakes down for me.
I was all about Boudreau but when he announced that Minny was his last stop
and it was going to be a short one, I fully got why the Flames didn't push for his services. Timing is a big part of the picture in CGY.
