If you listened to some of the experts, he's one of the better hockey minds out there, yet after his tenure with the Flames, he hasn't really been given a sniff at a head coaching job again. Is it maybe that some guys are better off as assistants than head coaches (Bowness, Martin, Crawford etc.) or is it just something to do with Playfair?
I distinctly remember hearing Sutter say that Playfair will be a head coach again somewhere in the league right after he demoted him. I wonder what happened...

After Playfair was demoted he did have that bit of a meltdown on the Abbotsford bench, it could also just be that he has found a home with the Coyotes. Playfair has been their Associate coach since he was hired and gets to work with one of the games best in Tippett. There is also the chance (I would say slim chance) that Arizona won't let him interview else like LA has with John Stevens.
