The more I read about CBJ the more I realize how under the gun they are and it seems more and more likely to me that they'd move down a few slots for salary/NMC relief if they really love Brown as reports suggest. Would it be worth it to take on a NMC and a big wage to move from 6 to 3?

They have 5 guys they have to protect in expansion who have NMCs and as it stands that means are going to have to expose Kerby Rychel, Sonny Milano, two of Wennberg/Atkinson/Karlsson, probably David Savard and Prout and two of their 3 good goalies (also Josh Anderson who a few here have mentioned as a trade target). They're going to lose a really good player, way more exposed than most teams.

Then they are already at 68 mil in salaries this year and still need to re-sign Seth Jones, Karlsson, Korpisalo and Forsberg who was ridiculous in the AHL playoffs this year. Even with the escalator, tall task. Not to mention that they were terrible last year and need to find a way to improve.
