My guess is that they stay at #3 and pick JP, taking value over need. The 4th pick is where it gets really interesting. If the rumours that MTL loves Brown are true, then they would make a very sensible trading partner at 4 with EDM. MTL gets Brown at 4, and the Oilers get one of the three D at 9.
This scenario works nicely for us too, with one of Dubois or Tkachuk falling to us.

Montreal does not have what the Oilers are looking for to trade down and that is an established D man that can step in now to help. Subban is not in play so unless the Habs make another deal somehow they really have nothing enticing for Edmonton.
