It is not just "semantics," and what you continue to miss is that virtually all of the things in Monahan's game being positively compared to Toews are on the level of production and character(?). The anecdotal items you have retrieved from Sutter and hockey observers are quite superficial, and do not make the sorts of comparisons that I would expect to be labelled as "stylistic." GrantedEV is absolutely correct in this instance: Monahan is a terrific centre, but plays the position differently than Toews. Even if he does turn out to be as good of a player as Toews, the way he plays the game will still be different. I agree with heep223—Monahan is stylistically more closely comparable to Kopitar. Maybe Sundin? Francis?
