Nikolai Khabibulin is to blame for the lack of a 2nd banner in our building. He made an astonishing save off a Nilson redirect in OT of Game 6, and he made a better one against Leopold in the dying moments of game 7 that would have tied things. They were a John Grahame appearance away from history.
I agree with you on the part Khabibulin was phenomenal in that Cup final, for argument sake, I'd like say that one could say Khabibulin made a exceptional save of Leopold shot. I remembered that play vividly, appeared many times in my nightmare. All season long, I'd been screaming to the TV that Leopold just won't do a one timer. He'd always stop the puck then wrist it in and gave the goalie, any goalie a second or 2 to react to his shot. And on that play, he did a one timer like I wanted him to all season long. And Khabibulin timed / guessed it correctly. If he did what he usually did that season, he may have been able to shoot the puck to the other side of the net which was pretty open.

But then, we are talking about all the what if scenarios now. Sigh, I guess it's fate that we couldn't have that Stanley Cup Banner hanging from our rafter.
