Try flying to Columbus, OH. It's about a 3 h drive to Louisville. Flights to Columbus used to cost me around $500 USD but that was a few years ago.
Could also try Cincinnati but I always found flights to Cinci from Alberta to be too expensive.
If you do drive to Louisville from Columbus, stop by Cincinnati for lunch and get some Skyline Chili.
