If you really feel that strongly about the nuisance of lawnmowers o4utweighing the visual appeal of grass, then have at 'er. I disagree personally. I get the benefit of my street looking nice in return for some lawnmower noise (which I have to make too). My guess those is that this is just hyperbole.
It is just a simple comparison. Lawnmower noise doesn't bother me, neither do kids playing. I know as a dad that if my kids are making some noise out back then great, it means they are probably doing something fun. If my neighbors kid is riding a half pipe then that's great too, I might be inclined to join in. Noise is noise, I live in a city and can't escape it.
