But in case you don't believe me and because you seem to think that only the ottoman empire has ever been there, the greeks have warred with the rulers of this area:
(not a complete list)
The Trojans (you might have even heard about this one looger, there was a big movie about it
The Persians
The Assyrians
The Samarians
The Egyptians
The Pontics
More recent:

"
Turkey and Greece have clashed for decades over the status of Aegean islands and over the extent of territorial waters and airspace. The tensions came to the brink of war on a number of occasions, most recently in 1996, when Greek and Turkish warships faced each other close to the disputed İmia-Kardak rocks. Only U.S. and NATO intervention subsided the conflict (See also: Imia-Kardak crisis).
Relations have since improved, particularly after earthquakes struck both countries in
1999. However, the Imia issue sprang up again on a smaller scale in 2004."

And they have only been in 4 wars since 1832. I guess things have been rosy!

Relations between
Greece and Turkey have been marked by alternating periods of mutual hostility and reconciliation ever since Greece won its independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1832. Since then the two countries have faced each other in four wars - the Greco-Turkish War (1897), the Balkan Wars of 1912 to 1913, the First World War (1914 to 1918) and the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922).
PS: This all occurred prior to last week.
