I bought a Sienna last summer and there has been this annoying rattle coming from the back that only crops up over certain types of bumps. I've had the back tailgate ripped apart thrice to try and identify and fix it. I told my wife if I can't fix it I'm selling the vehicle and she just couldn't fathom that. I need to be in a rattle-free car or I go instantly insane.
Ended up being the jack - it's the scissor style and you need to expand it a little after it goes into its holder to lock it into place. Must have just worked itself loose as I haven't had a flat. Easiest fix ever (after spending hours trying to find it!).
I could totally relate to your fix-the-rattle-or-sell comment hah.
