1) What if Flames faires well in the 2016 NHL lottery and took Matthews or a Fin, or conversely, what if the Flames didn't win a few meaningless games down the stretch
2) What if Dallas won their series against St. Louis and gave us an excellent trade piece with the 1st rounder
3) What if Burke didn't embarrass Baertschi publicly
4) What if Burke didn't extend Stajan for 5 years
5) What if Burke didn't hold out on Cammy until the deadline and traded him earlier
6) What if Feaster waited until training camp to trade Tanguay
7) What if Iginla agreed to the Boston deal
8) What if Burke doesn't trade for Smid and keeps Brossoit
9) What if Feaster doesn't give Wideman a NMC
10) What if Riberio agrees to the trade and Flamed get Arizona's 1st
Funny I think the flames have been fortunate in their rebuild and a lot has gone out way so far.

1( First point if the Flames didn't win a few meaningless games we finish where the Canucks did and drop back 2 spots instead of one. In fact if we were just a bit better we get Laine
2) Second point would have been nice but Treliving still fleeced Dallas on that deal
3) Third point results in Sven still being a pouty baby who was sad he got jumped by guys like Johnny and Jooris.
4) Too bad Burke signed Stajan for 4 years but if he didn't then who scores the clinching goal against Vancouver last year. Maybe we lose the series
5) maybe the flames trade Cammy for a 4th and that prospect is marginal while teams still think the way to deal with Cagarynis hold out and they cave. Glencross doesn't get a 2nd and 3rd and Russell doesn't get a player, prospect and pick that had 1st round potential
6) maybe he gets even less for him or can't move him at all and his pouty attitude does not help build the new culture of the team
7) we get a later first in 2013, a marginal Dman that would be off our roster, and a prospect that still has not cracked the NHL.
8)Feaster made this trade and it turned out to a dud. We have more cap space and another mediocre goalie prospect.
9)he probably doesn't sign here and the team probably misses the playoffs in 2015
10) we have a decent prospect and perhaps do not have the cap space to sign Hamilton and Frolik last summer.

Such a pessimistic post. We are 3 years since the rebuild started and have a great young core.

Things could have gone much worse
2013- Hurricanes take Monahan leaving Lndholn for the Flames
2014- Flames defeat Vancouver in the last game of the season and fall to 5th and draft Dal Colle or Virtanen
2014- Gaudreau goes back for his senior year and tests free agency
2015- flames miss playoffs
2015- Glencross doesn't waive

Could be way worse
