I hate when animals have to die because of human stupidity. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a member of PETA or anything. I eat more steak than any healthy person should. But cows and chickens are raised as a food source. This gorilla was raised and held as entertainment which, in itself, is already a bit of an ethical leap. So when we violate the boundaries of this dangerous animal and then kill it despite it doing absolutely 0 things wrong; that bothers me. Put me in the camp that says the zoo should have hit it with a tranquillizer dart and hoped for the best.
I know people will say, "You're clearly not a parent," and you're right. I'm not. Because I don't consider myself equipped to properly take care of a child right now. If I had kids I would be that idiot letting them run into gorilla cages and, of course, I would want the zookeeper to shoot the gorilla to save my kid even though I'm probably the one most deserving of a bullet.
