Pribyl aiming to crack Flames lineup

Daniel Pribyl knows who they are, knows what they can do, and — heck yes — he’d like to saddle up on right wing with Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau.
But as tantalizing as the proposition is, the 23-year-old Czech forward’s main objective when he lands on North American soil to play hockey professionally for the first time is to make the National Hockey League.
“Oh for sure, I’d love to play with them,” said the 23-year-old on Monday, calling at supper time from his home in Prague. “I wouldn’t know them to see them on the street or something, but I’ve seen highlights of them and I know of them. They’re really good players.”

A natural pivot and pass-first kind of guy, Pribyl will most likely be shuffled to the wing when development camp kicks off in early July based on Calgary’s need at the position.
Of course, that small detail doesn’t bother Pribyl one bit.
“I feel more comfortable at centre,” he said. “But two or three months at the end of this season I played at right wing and I don’t think it’s that different.
“It’s my goal (to play in the NHL) so we’ll see what happens in the next two years.”
Drafted 168th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2011, Pribyl had been to Calgary with the Czech junior team and competed at the 2012 world juniors.
“It’s a nice city,” Pribyl said. “I played there in the world junior championships but I didn’t have much time to spend in the city. I was there last month and I think it’s a nice city.
“I’m really excited to come to Calgary.”
