And don't discount the draw of an arena. I know plenty of sports fans who have a goal of visiting every arena/field/stadium where the league they follow hosts events. There's one on this page. Quality area's are not only a requirement to keep your franchise viable, but they are key in drawing and maintaining talent. Having access to world class game, practice and workout facilities under one roof it is a requirement these days.

Yeah but how many world class cities have:
A brand new $250 million library
A $195 million music centre
A $25 million red pedestrian bridge
Hey we even have a sewage treatment plant with $250k worth of art work.
Of course we are world class, just ask Nenshi, Only a mayor of a world class city could spend $300k of our money fighting a lawsuit.
