I don't want either of those deals. Center depth is huge. Especially high end center depth.
I wonder how bad they want to dump Clarkson's contract? If the answer is REALLY badly then maybe that's an "IN"

That Clarkson deal is beyond terrible though. It's buy out proof right to the end, and comes complete with a NMC.
My only other stipulation to the above deal would be that Clarkson needs to agree in writing to waive his NMC for the purposes of any future expansion drafts. Not that he'd be taken, but just so we wouldn't be forced to protect him instead of a younger player.
He'd be more palatable at $4,250,000 per year, and he is a right shot who can play a gritty game.

Not having the 3rd OA still allows the Flames to build a cup team. Being handcuffed to Clarkson limits that possibility quite significantly IMO
