what's real bizarre is how close these cultures were, not so long ago.
if not for the excesses of greek and italian troops right after WWI they might still be united to some extent, greeks may have stayed with the head of the orthodox church remaining in istanbul.
without some specific massacres the turks would have stayed oppressed by foreigners on their soil, they were a totally broken nation.
c'est la vie, the greeks made their bed. or i should say ONE GENERAL made the bed for all greeks in anatolia.
