Something about this draft suggests to me that guys like Keller, Jost, Fabbro, etc. will be much more successful than Dubois, Tkachuk, and the big 3 D. Just a hunch.

I think they all look promising. And this is why I think this draft has an extremely good top end. If players like Jost, Fabbro and Keller are likely to go in the teens then that's a strong top end. I mean Jost would go top 8 some weaker drafts. I like Fabbro as much as Hadyn Fleury who went top 7 IIRC. I think the big 3 d-men all have a higher upside than Fleury. IMO a fair chunk of the top 20 could be top 10 picks in a draft with a thinner top end.
Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty excited about a bunch of players in the teens. Not that I think trading down is the answer. But I think it shows the depth of the top end when we're talking about this many names. I've seen people suggest we draft Tkachuk, Dubois, Sergachev, Chychrun, Juolevi, Nylander, McLeod, Jost, Keller, and Brown. And none of those are completely outlandish suggestions. But obviously the Flames scouts will have their favourites.
It's going to be an interesting draft to watch going forward. I think you are right in that a couple of the better players in this draft will come out of the teens. But I'm still pretty high on Tkachuk, Dubois and the 3 dmen myself. I don't consider Fabbro much of a step down from them.
