Agreed-that article sums up my own views on this situation better than I ever could.
One other thought: many have speculated as to the media's reaction if Harper had done what Trudeau did. I was not (and am not) Harper's biggest fan. I think he was cynical and arrogant, and he did a lot of things I disagreed with and felt were harmful to our country.
But I think we have to give Harper this, just for the sake of intellectual honesty: he would NEVER have lost his cool, and done what Trudeau did the other day. He would have stayed in his seat, and observed parliamentary decorum (such as it is) and let the speaker sort it out. Trudeau made a huge mistake, and I feel like it could really cost him.
In a way, he is lucky that opposition MPs are making themselves look even worse in their desperate attempts to make political hay out of this utterly idiotic storm-in-a-teacup faux controversy. They should all be ashamed.
