Grew up in Canmore, in the 80's. It's Friday night and the four of go and celebrate our buddies 18th at the Canmore Hotel. The rest of us are 16 and 17. No fake IDs or anything, we sit down and the bartender comes up to us and quickly asks " which one of you is 18?" After a long pause, which I'm sure we were all gulping, we point to the birthday boy. The bartender laughs it up, says he's just kidding and asks us for our order.

It was a great night until we were leaving. My buddy, who was 17, stumbled out of the Hotel while the rest of us were holding him up. RCMP, just happened to be parked right outside and asked for his id. My buddy, just yells and screams at the cop. My drunken ass, tries to defend him, and tells the cop that I'll make sure he gets home. But my buddy proceeds to yell at the cop some more. So the cop puts him in the back of the car while I'm still trying to help. He then asks for my id. So I don't have mine either and I get put in car as well.

But instead of the drunk tank and charges and whatever. The cop drives us up to the Nordic Center in spray lakes. Let's us out and says that we can walk back. It's 3am, -15 and it takes us 2hrs to get back.

Got to luv small towns in the 80's. Canmore might have had 5000 ppl back then.
