One summer when I was a teen I would organize games of 'Capture the Flag' in the field by our house. It was great because there were two elementary schools with a big field and lots of trees in between -- the two playgrounds were the 'bases'. We would play at night (10 or 11 PM) so it was dark, and each team would only have a couple flashlights to play with, so you had to be stealthy. Was pretty fun.
So the third or fourth time we did this, I was hiding behind a shed by one of the parks, waiting to make my move for the flag, when a car full of guys pulls up by the 7-11 across the street. They get out and start walking towards the park where 4 or 5 of my friends were guarding (or whatever). For some reason, my friends got scared and bolted. Then all those guys bolted after them. Much yelling and running.
I wandered out and another of my friends came by and we were both thinking "What the hell?" After a few minutes the pack of guys who had come from the 7-11 came back and were like "We're looking for some guys who crashed our friend's party and it's totally you, why would your friends run if it wasn't you, blah blah blah!" Bunch of them ready to fight us, we were outnumbered like 6 to 2.
Managed to talk myself out of that situation, but in hindsight that was a lot more dangerous then I thought. Not sure why I hung around waiting for them to come back.
I caught up with my friends the next day (they had all disappeared and this was pre-cellphones) and I guess they'd all bolted across the field, hopped a few fences, and called the police. The guys were chasing them yelling they were gonna beat the hell out of them and stuff. I got flak for being the one who hid behind a shed, haha.
So, I guess the whole thing was just kind of a stupid situation.
