We did some work for Grant Thorten on behalf of Redwater Energy a while back, suffice to say it was cash up front.

This seems backwards to me.

Why should the alberta government be on the hook for these wells that need to be decommissioned? they weren't the ones that extended the credit. This cost is just externalized onto the taxpayer when it should be accounted for in the risk analysis of the creditors.

Doesn't seem right to force the state to eat that cost.
