I also think that his choice of words to "enter the fray" were a little too coincidental. must mean something! last we heard the Freys are on the Bolton side, though would that have changed at all with the recent devouring of Walder's daughter and grandson?

I don't believe that Littlefinger merely sides with whoever has the best chance of winning. The guy craves power and manipulates others to get it. Ramsey isn't someone who can be easily manipulated. Nor do I think he is someone who likes taking orders. Ramsey is too unpredictable and I imagine Littlefinger sees Sansa/Jon as a convenient way to remove him from the equation.
