Hopefully they can't find a high end d-man and end up having to draft one. That makes the idea of trading up with them even more realistic. They could trade down to #6 and have their pick of the d-men still if VAN takes a forward. And even if VAN took a d-man they'd still have a choice of Tkachuk/Dubois and 2 of the dmen.

Those defensemen aren't easily available unless they're 30+ years old near the end of their contract and making huge dollars.
And the cost of them is going to be high, especially if they're in the 25 year old range.
Calgary got lucky with Hamilton, and part of it I'm sure is due to a screw Chia mentality that the Bruins had at the time.
But Edmonton is going to have to give up their first round pick ++ to even get a sniff, and I love saying it, its a sellers market so that ++ could end up being a piece that Edmonton doesn't want to move.
And no that doesn't include guys like Fayne, Poulliot or Grandmaster Ebs.
