Daniel Tkaczuk was a great pick - and he looked like he was going to become a very good and important player for the next decade for Calgary. Only Hossa and POSSIBLY Morrow/Stuart were better picks after him.
Injuries derailed his career. It can happen to any pick. People talk about him being a bust, but it is because back then concussions were something you just shook off and went back into the game with. People remember that he 'busted', but most people never look back as to why that happened. Tkaczuk apparently still suffers from post-concussion syndrome IIRC. I think he would have become the perfect #1 center for Jarome, actually. I feel bad for the kid - half because his promising career got cut short, and half because most fans just remember him unfairly for busting.
